I was born and raised in Los Angeles and now live in its sister city, Berlin, where I work as a writer, screenwriter, and translator from Swedish and German into English. In 2021 I was awarded the Berlin Senate grant for non-German literature, an English PEN Translates Award, and was a PEN America Translation Prize finalist. I am Princeton’s Fall 2022 Translator in Residence. I’m always looking for new projects.
Permission (2019), my debut novel, was published in five languages and was longlisted for the Believer Book Award.
Previously I worked as Granta magazine’s global publicist and as an editor at the AVN Media Network. I have volunteered my time as the Honorary Secretary of SELTA. I am a member of the Translators’ Association and the Society of Authors.
