UPCOMING EVENTS

24 June 2021 – Zoom – 15:00-16:00 BST – Industry Insider: Writing as Translation and Translation as Writing

How can you achieve balance in writing and translation? How does translation demystify the writing process? How can you keep your voice separate from the work of translation?

Translator and writer Saskia Vogel will lead a discussion on the craft and art of writing and translating alongside translators Sabine Huynh, Tiffany Tsao and Yovanka Perdigão, who are also published writers. The panel will look at how the two practices feed into each other – the creative highs and potential pitfalls – as well as the benefits in translating when you are already writing your own work. They will also discuss the influence of translation on their own writing, what it can teach about the spirit of language, and much more.

This event is part of the TA @ Home, a week-long celebration of translation organised by the SoA’s Translators Association (TA). It will take place online via Zoom Webinar. The link will be sent to registered attendees.
